Kingtone has been selected as the only mobile wireless communication provider to provide comprehensive wireless tour information services for the 2011 International Horticultural Exposition (the "2011 Horticultural Expo") in Xi'an, China.
The 2011 Horticultural Expo is another large scale international gathering hosted by China following the Beijing 2008 Olympics and the Shanghai 2010 Expo. Held in the Chan-Ba Ecological District, Xi'an from April to October 2011, the exposition will last for 178 days and cover a total area of 418 hectares (6,270 mu) and 109 outdoor exhibition parks. It is expected to bring over 12 million visitors to Xi'an.
Kingtone was selected among 30 competitors from all over China because of its demonstrated ability to consistently operate at the highest technical standards within its industry. Unlike the Shanghai 2010 Expo, the 2011 Horticultural Expo is the first major world-class international event in China to use only one individual wireless information solution developer to design, implement and maintain such a comprehensive wireless solution.
This project has also enabled Kingtone to provide its wide-ranging suite of services beyond the exposition itself. In addition to providing information services to exposition visitors and other tourists, Kingtone is developing a brand-new e-Government solution for the Chan-Ba Ecological District as well as helping Xian local authorities cope with the additional influx of visitors.
Kingtone's "Wireless Emergency Command Management System" will be used to enhance public security in Xi'an during the event. Kingtone will also design and develop an Information Management System for the 2,500 police officers of the Xi'an Railway Public Security Bureau to monitor crowd movements and ensure safety. In addition, Kingtone will upload over 50 informational applications to 12,000 local police officers' mobile phones.
As the long-time and exclusive strategic partner of China Telecom Shaanxi Co., Ltd., Kingtone was granted the right to make its software easily downloadable from e-Surfing, China Telecom's "Software Supermarket". This will be another element of future recurring revenues triggered by this exposition.
